Honeycomb Tray and Silhouette Portrait GIVEAWAY!

DIY Honeycomb tray upcycle

Happy Monday morning friends! Today you get a double treat, a tutorial and a giveaway for one of the BEST crafting tools around!!  Now that is a good start to the week right?! So first off let me share this project that I whipped up on Saturday. This project has been on the to-do list for almost a year now and I finally got around to it.  Ahhh! It feels so good to check a project off the list!! I bought this rather large gold tray at a yard sale last year and I liked to gold color but man was there a lot of gold! I wanted to do something to it to tone it down a bit.

I started by taping off the sides.  I wanted to paint the bottom of it white but wanted to keep the gold sides.  The tray was plastic so I used a spray paint for plastics.  Seemed to work well but it did take quite a few coats, more than half the can of spray paint.  While I was waiting for the white paint to dry I cut my desired shape onto black vinyl.  I chose a honeycomb pattern.  I took out the inside of the honeycombs (saved them of course- I couldn’t let all those cute hexagons go to waste!) and used transfer paper to transfer my honeycomb vinyl onto the bottom of my tray.

Completely different look and I couldn’t have done it without my Silhouette.  This tool is by far my favorite crafting tool.  I use it for almost everything! In fact, you see that little button on my side bar below my picture? Yep, I love my Silhouette so much that I have been working on the Silhouette design team doing projects for their blog.  If you want to see some more of the things I have made with my Silhouette you can check out my Silhouette Page or go over to the Silhouette blog and see the projects I have designed for them.

Now my friends, hold onto your britches because you have a chance to win one of these beauties!  I have teamed up with 13 other Silhouette lovers to host a giveaway for a Silhouette PORTRAIT!
