Evy Poumpouras is a distinguished American journalist, author, and former Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. Born on January 1, 1977, in Queens, New York, she is the daughter of Greek immigrants—her father hailing from Mesta and her mother from Kilkis, Greece.
Growing up in a bilingual household, Greek was her first language, and she later became fluent in English. Poumpouras pursued higher education at Hofstra University, earning a degree in Political Science and Government. She furthered her studies with a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University and a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University.
In 2000, Poumpouras began her 12-year tenure with the U.S. Secret Service, serving under Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, as well as First Lady Michelle Obama. She was a first responder during the September 11 attacks, an experience that earned her the U.S. Secret Service Valor Award.
After leaving the Secret Service in 2012, Poumpouras transitioned into journalism, contributing to major networks such as NBC, MSNBC, and Good Morning America. She co-hosted Bravo TV’s competition series “Spy Games” and authored the best-selling book “Becoming Bulletproof: Protect Yourself, Read People, Influence Situations, and Live Fearlessly.”
Additionally, she serves as an adjunct professor of criminal justice and criminology at the City University of New York.
