Yarn it All Guest Post: Crochet Collar

Crochet Collar Refashion Tutorial

I am over at the blog Bugaboo Mini, Mr & Me guest posting in her Yarn it All Series.   Kimberly always comes up with the most creative names for her series’! She asked if I wanted to do a guest post involving yarn and I said yes before I realized that I don’t really know that much about yarn.  I do know a little about refashioning clothes though so I grabbed a crochet hook that looked nice and a yarn that felt soft and I closed my eyes and jumped.  I came up with this crochet collar refashion that I actually love quite a bit.  Come see how I did it!

Hello Shirt Refashion

Hello Shirt Designed by Lisa Richards

I am sharing my last project that I made as a Silhouette design team member over at the Silhouette blog today.  I took a plain white men’s t-shirt and took it in to fit me.  If you want to see how to take in a big men’s shirt, go to this tutorial.  After I altered the men’s shirt I added a  cursive hello phrase to it.   I used glittery black heat transfer for a smooth and perfect finish.  I have shared a few tips so go check out my Hello Shirt Refashion!

My last post is bitter sweet.  I love my Silhouette and am constantly trying to push its limits and see what it can do.  You can see all the tutorials for the  posts that I did by going to my Silhouette design team page. That being said though I am excited for some extra time to start on other projects-or finish projects like my Wardrobe Refashion! That project has drug on long enough! Now I feel like I can actually breathe and am excited to tackle all the things that have been on the back burner!  Hope you will stick around to see what I will make next!

Gift Wrap Wrapper

Gift Wrap Wrapper Designed by Lisa Richards

Wrap it up wrap it in, let me begin.  I totally thought that was how the Jump Around song started out.  Turns out I have sung it wrong in my head all these years.  It really goes “pack it up pack it in, let me begin”.  I like my version better especially since it deals with crafting.  I made this gift wrap wrapper to decorate a birthday present for my daughter to take to a birthday party.  I am always looking for new gift wrap ideas and so it was fun to try out a present sans a bow.  You can see the full tutorial for how I made the wrapper over at the Silhouette blog today.  If you want to see some other pretty gift wrap ideas, follow along on my Wrap it Up Pinterest Board!  If you have a gift wrap board, comment and send me the link! I would love to browse :).

How to Cut Leather with the Silhouette

DIY Leather Earrings by Lisa Richards

I have cut a wide range of materials with my Silhouette Cameo.  One material had never been put to the test though.  I had never tried cutting REAL leather with my Silhouette CAMEO before.  With the help of the Silhouette interfacing, I have cut faux leather which I used on this Leather Believe Pillow but never the real thing.  Until now.

At first I tried just sticking the leather right to the mat but that left me with a fuzzy mat that was trying to double as a pet.   I am not a pet person, not even pet mats.  I had to find a solution so that I could make myself a pair of REAL leather earrings.  And find one I did.

Go check out the Silhouette blog to see what I used and how I successfully cut leather with my Silhouette CAMEO!
