A few years ago I bought a really cute scarf at a DownEast Outfitters tent sale. I was stoked to find it in a $5 bin. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized why it was in the $5 bin. The bottom half of one of the sides was missing. Arrrg.
I wore it a few times, tied very sneakily so that the missing side couldn’t be seen. Then I saw this post by Chelsea of Two Twenty One about turning a regular scarf into an infinity scarf and I knew that there was hope yet for my $5 bin scarf. Chelsea used heat and bond to refashion her scarf but I was plain happy just to use my sewing machine.
I started by cutting off that fringe on the one side and then sewing the two scarf halves together. Wow, that whole tutorial took one sentence. I guess I did serge the edge so I have to add one more tally to the sentence count. Still, a 2 sentence tutorial is a good tutorial.
Ahhh, much better! My bin scarf was just waiting to channel its inner Buzz Lightyear- to infinity and beyond!
