I must have looked like a deer in the headlights when my daughter said she wanted her costume to be a “Golden Flower Butterfly Princess” for Halloween. Okay. [Read more…]
Phew. That title was a mouthful! There is plenty of fun stuff going on in this post though so make sure and get your free Silhouette file to make these DIY Gold index cards and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom too!
First I am going to share with you how I made these gold index cards for my daughters baptism. I wanted something for the guests to write messsages to my daughter after her baptism and I wanted it to coordinate with the rest of the things that I had made. I wanted to make some gold notecards and new my Silhouette CAMEO would come to my rescue.
This is what the file looks like. It is made for a 12 x 12 sheet of paper. I color coded it for easy cutting. First, using a gold sketch pen or gold marker, have your Silhouette cut the red lines (under advanced cutting click cut by line color and then pick red). Once your design has been sketched out, change out the pen / marker for your cutting blade and have your Silhouette cut the blue lines. That is all. Think of the index card or note card possibilities! If you want to make your top line a different color, you could even do that too.
You could try printing the lines on your printer first and putting registration marks on the paper but then you wouldn’t get that beautiful shine from the gold sketch pens!

This post is brought to you by Kolette Hall.
Everything looks cuter in a miniature form right? Well add a mason jar and the cute factor is off the charts! I made a chocolate brownie caramel heath bar trifle (whew, that was a mouthful!) for my mother’s birthday and thought I would make it work double duty for another birthday gift that I wanted to give.
I started with a small mason jar. I cut a circular piece of double sided adhesive cardstock and centered it on my jar lid. I cut out the Happy Birthday to You- Hand Written Phrase by Kolette Hall in gold vinyl. In order to get it placed just right on my lid, I put my happy birthday shape on transfer paper and then laid it non-sticky side down over the negative space of the circle I cut out. I traced the circle around it and then cut out the circle. I laid my transfer paper circle onto the adhesive cardstock circle and transfered the vinyl on.
I also added a little black and white polka dot washi tape around the lid.
I also have 3 more easy Happy Birthday gift ideas with cute tags and packaging to give you some more inspiration. I have a little stash of happy birthday tags that I go to when I need to package up a cute birthday gift. The tags use shapes from Kolette Hall.
These next two both use the same tag from my stockpile. It uses the Happy Birthday Layered Script Phrase . To make them, I just used the print and cut feature.
For this gift idea, I cut out a paper carrier and filled it with cookies I grabbed a birthday tag from my stash and tied it all up with a bow.
Lastly I made a no-sew ice cream cozy out of a cut off sleeve from my daughters dress. I had already cut the sleeves off since the dress was a little bigger than her size. I grabbed my scissors and cut off the wrist cuff portion. I made sure to not cut into the wrist part since I wanted that tube to stay intact. I stretched it over the ice cream (or in this case Almond Dream Bites) and added my print and cut tag. Instant no-sew ice cream cozy with a darling birthday wish!
