Hopefully you have things squared away as far as gifts go for Valentine’s day. Do you give expensive gifts? Homemade gifts? Cards? For the last few years my husband and I have been doing handmade gifts for each other. Ever since he wanted to do a joint gift of a lawnmower (what was he thinking?!) we have steered clear of purchasing big things and just stuck with simple gifts. Last year I made him a pack of date ideas. This year I am keeping it really simple and I made him a card. Inside the card is an idea on a collaboration gift for him (I am going to need his help on it). If you have a gift already and just need a card, here is an easy and simple idea on how to make a card using the Silhouette.
I used a BE MY Valentine shape from Kolette Hall and my Silhouette software. It is easy to make a card with your Silhouette. I like to draw two rectangles. One that is 8.5 x 5.5 and one that is 4.25 x 5.5 . We won’t be cutting out either of these rectangles, they are just there to help us get our image or text centered. I centered my image in the 4.25 x 5.5 box.
I moved the larger box so that it was outlining the top of my 8.5 x 11 paper. Then I moved the smaller box with my image to the right side of the larger box.
At this point you can delete the boxes. I filled the BE MY with pink color and printed it out on my printer. Then I cut my paper in half.
I cut out the Valentine phrase from vellum paper and put it through a xyron sticker maker. Then I stuck it onto the card.
I also cut out an envelope from pretty cardstock for the card to go inside. If you need a last minute Valentines card, this one is easy to whip up real fast!
