Brownie Trifle with Chocolate, Caramel and Heath Bar

Brownie Trifle with Chocolate Caramel and Heath Bar

Bottom line, this trifle is delicious! It is always a hit at any function I take it to. It is a really easy dessert to make, especially considering how yummy it is!

Brownie Trifle with Chocolate, Caramel and Heath Bar

adapted from Wayne’s recipe on Allrecipes.com

1 Brownie Mix (with ingredients to prepare it)

1 5.9 oz package instant chocolate pudding mix

1/2 cup water

1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

1 16 oz container Cool Whip

1 tsp vanilla

1 bag Chocolate Heath Bar Toffee Bits

1 jar caramel ice cream topping (for drizzling, you won’t need the whole jar)

1. Prepare brownie mix according to the package directions.  Allow to cool and cut into squares.  I prepared my brownies the day before.

2. In a large bowl, mix chocolate pudding mix, water and sweetened condensed milk until combined.  Fold in 6 oz from the cool whip container.  Continue folding until there are not white streaks.

3. Mix the vanilla into the container with the remaining 10 oz of cool whip.

4. Now it is time to start assembling the trifle.  Layer the bottom of a trifle bowl with brownies.  Add a half of the chocolate mix followed by half of the cool whip.   Drizzle Caramel topping on top. Sprinkle Heath bar toffee bits across the whole surface.  Don’t be stingy. Repeat layers.

I even set aside a little bit of the ingredients and put together a really cute and yummy birthday treat in a mason jar.

4 Easy Happy Birthday Gift Tags

This post is brought to you by Kolette Hall. Mason Jar Birthday Gift Idea

Everything looks cuter in a miniature form right? Well add a mason jar and the cute factor is off the charts!  I made a chocolate brownie caramel heath bar trifle (whew, that was a mouthful!) for my mother’s birthday and thought I would make it work double duty for another birthday gift that I wanted to give.

Mason Jar Gift Topper_Happy Birthday

I started with a small mason jar.  I cut a circular piece of double sided adhesive cardstock and centered it on my jar lid.  I cut out the Happy Birthday to You- Hand Written Phrase by Kolette Hall in gold vinyl.  In order to get it placed just right on my lid, I put my happy birthday shape on transfer paper and then laid it non-sticky side down over the negative space of the circle I cut out.  I traced the circle around it and then cut out the circle.  I laid my transfer paper circle onto the adhesive cardstock circle and transfered the vinyl on.

I also added a little black and white polka dot washi tape around the lid.

I also have 3 more easy Happy Birthday gift ideas with cute tags and packaging to give you some more inspiration.  I have a little stash of happy birthday tags that I go to when I need to package up a cute birthday gift.  The tags use shapes from Kolette Hall.

Birthday Gift Idea with tagFirst up I used the Arrow Words- Birthday shape to cut out this Happy Birthday arrow on adhesive cardstock.  I added that to a rounded tag and made a DIY origami paper bow to finish it off.

These next two both use the same tag from my stockpile.  It uses the Happy Birthday Layered Script Phrase  .  To make them, I just used the print and cut feature.

Cookie Birthday Gift Packaging Idea

For this gift idea, I cut out a paper carrier and filled it with cookies  I grabbed a birthday tag from my stash and tied it all up with a bow.

DIY No-Sew Ice Cream Cozy_Birthday Gift

Lastly I made a no-sew ice cream cozy out of a cut off sleeve from my daughters dress.  I had already cut the sleeves off since the dress was a little bigger than her size.   I grabbed my scissors and cut off the wrist cuff portion.  I made sure to not cut into the wrist part since I wanted that tube to stay intact.  I stretched it over the ice cream (or in this case Almond Dream Bites) and added my print and cut tag.  Instant no-sew ice cream cozy with a darling birthday wish!

Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting

Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting

When you don’t have time to make a cake (or cupcake in this case) from scratch, a good alternative is to focus on the frosting.  That way the cupcakes still have that homemade touch.  This time around I made a chocolate cupcake from a cake mix and topped it with a big helping of Oreo Cream Cheese frosting.  Oh ya.
